This database is a repository of the genetic variations identified and published in the field of inherited arrhythmogenic diseases and cardiac ion channels. It was originally created in January 2000 as an initiative of Study Group on the Molecular Basis of Arrhythmias. After the Study Group terminated its activities the Web site continued to be regularly updated and edited thanks to the effort of the investigators of the Molecular Cardiology Laboratories of the IRCCS Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri (Pavia, Italy) and, from 2010, in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Genetics Program of the New York University School of Medicine (New York, USA). Both Labs are directed by Silvia G Priori.

The aims of this project are to create a repository of genetic data (mutations, linkage data, references) on the inherited arrhythmogenic diseases and to provide clinical cardiologist, geneticists, and research scientists with a tool helpful for their research activity.
